Shield Art
Ah! Another surface for me to prettify!

2008: Baronial Champion, Concordia of the Snows

A salute to Sandro Botticelli's "Birth of Venus" (1485). Her virtue is portected by the shield of Concordia. May mine protect the virtue of both.

2008: Shield for Damon von Drachenklaue

The Russian is roughly "In the name of Christ, I pray to you God, protect my honor and keep me and my opponent safe. Amen." The field divison is based on period art.

2008: Shield for Spring War Season

Front displays the Duchy VDK device of the Tagma cajoined with the Northern Army Star. The Latin translates to "We gladly feast on those who would subdue us. We are the VDK. Truth, Justice, Faith". The inside is a Chi Ro inspired by period art.

2008: Shield for Spring Crown Tournament

My personal arms (Azure, on a mullet of twelve points argent, a roundel engrailed Azure, all within a bordure engrailed Or), and a rampant Eastern tyger sinister. The Greek translates to "Either with this, or on it".

2007: Shield for Fall Crown Tournament

My personal arms (Azure, on a mullet of twelve points argent, a roundel engrailed Azure, all within a bordure engrailed Or), and in base, the VDK tagma supported by 2 Eastern Tygers courant. The inside is adorned with a chi-ro and a portrait of the Theodora mosaics from Ravenna.

2007: East's Queen's Champion

Done to honor my Queen as her Champion. This shield was carried to Atlantia for "Kingdom Crusades". The Latin is: Do not give in to evils, but proceed ever more boldly against them (Virgil, "Aeneid") and For the glory of the Queen.

2007: Duchy Shield

Front displays the new Duchy VDK device of the Tagma cajoined with the Northern Army Star. First I painted my arms inside, but later changed it to an icon of St Sebastianus. He has kept me safe from much combat archery.

2004: Duchy Shields

The Latin is (Oval) I am not dead, therefore I am not done; and (24" round) My conscience means more to me than all speech (Cicero). The Haus motto ("Truth, Justice, Faith") is printed across the bottom.
